RUBY36E

The RUBY36E sump is loaded with features and comes with the trademark dark RUBY translucent red material. This sump is unique in that it offers independent flow through the refugium. This is important as some types of algae require slow flow.  The rest of the sump maintains a higher flow rated to the aquarium turn over desired. Some features of the RUBY36E sump are:
  • 3 position probe holder
  • Adjustable water level
  • RUBY red wall to block light and prevent unwanted algae growth in skimmer section
  • Locking filter sock holder
  • Foam filter block
  • Protein skimmer section
  • Dedicated refugium section with independent flow

WATER FLOW PATH
SECTION DETAILS
RUBY36E

The RUBY36E has 3 main sections. Section 1 is the refugium section. The flow rate through the refugium can be controlled based on the type of algae that is housed there. There are several ways to feed water into the refugium.
  • Split or use one of the drain lines from the tank
  • Tee off from the return pump
  • Use a small pump that sits inside the sump
If splitting off one of the drains from the tank is the method chosen, then it is recommended to put valves on both lines after the split to control flow. Water flows from the refugium into Section 2.
Section 2 is where the water from the main tank enters through the filter socks. This is the section where the protein skimmer typically sits. Water from this section goes over a baffle and through a foam block filter and then under a baffle into Section 3.
Section 3 is the return section where the return pump will sit, pumping water back to the display tank.

Key Features

1. Dedicated refugium flow input
2. Drawstring tabs for 7″ drawstring filter socks
3. Locking filter sock holder
4. Three position probe holder
5. Adjustable water level
6. Filter foam block
7. Full top support brace to prevent bowing
Adjustable Water Level
Water level in the sump is adjustable from 7″ to 9.5″ to accommodate water height requirements for different protein skimmers. Simply move the baffle to the desired height location and tighten the two bolts to hold in place.
Three Slot Probe Holder
The RUBY36E sumps come with a probe holder that can hold up to three probes. The two outside holes are 0.63” in diameter and the center hole is 0.8” in diameter to fit different sized probes.
Drawstring Tabs
Two tabs are located on the top support brace in front of the 1” bulkhead fittings. The purpose of these tabs are to provide a location for tying off 7” diameter filter socks that have drawstrings. The 7″ socks allow for longer times before the filter sock gets clogged and needs to be cleaned or replaced.
Locking Filter Sock Holder
Filter socks snap and lock into the filter sock holder to secure the sock from falling out when it becomes clogged. The 4” filter socks are 100 micron rating.

Best quality in the industry!
This is hands down the best quality sump I’ve ever used. I have it installed on a 75 gallon tank running with Miracle mud in the refugium. I couldn’t be happier with the decision to go with Trigger Systems! You will not be disappointed.

Great sump
I had mine on my 120 gallon reef for almost two years. This has been the best sump I’ve owned. I don’t get undesired algae growth outside the refugium section, the construction is as solid as the day it was new, and anyone who views my system loves its look, quality, and design.
